A triumph for the Mexican Godín world! The Chamber of Senators has approved the extension of the vacation period for workers from 6 to 12 paid working days from the first year of permanence in a company.
Although if you are one of the lucky ones who already enjoyed more than 12 days of vacation, this modification will not affect you, since it was contemplated that in these cases the period that is most favorable for the worker will continue to be observed.
This reform was approved unanimously, since it had 89 votes in favor and zero against. All senators agreed on the issue, so no debate ensued. Only some of them took turns giving their opinion on the reform, such as Napoleón Gómez Urrutia, senator from Morena.
Since the enactment of the Federal Labor Law, in force since April 1970, 52 years ago, article 76, which establishes six vacation days, has not been reformed even once.
We all need free time for our personal development. Therefore, the issue at hand seeks to ensure that workers participate in productivity gains through better wages and more time for rest and recreation.
We hope that the deputies do not spoil the party for us because the issue has advanced to the Chamber of Deputies to reopen the debate on this issue, so it can still undergo modifications.
✅ The reform in terms of #HolidaysWorthy.
With this modification, rest days are increased from 6 to 12, to two more days for each year worked and from the sixth, two days are increased for every 5 years.

Article 76 Federal Labor Law. – Workers who have more than one year of service will enjoy an annual paid vacation period, which in no case may be less than six working days and will increase by two working days, up to twelve, for each subsequent year of service. .
Currently, this is stated in the current law, but as of January 1, 2023, the Dignified Vacation reform will come into force, increasing the annual paid vacation period to a minimum of 12 working days and two working days each year until reaching to 20. As of the sixth year, the vacation period will increase by two days for every five services.
Senators and deputies, we do not get angry if once and for all they review the increases to the minimum wage, because although now they have extended our rest days, we do require more income to go on vacation to a tourist site.
