In an interview with the Smartless podcast, the Joe Russo brothers confirmed that Kevin Feige sought them out to take the reins of the Star Wars project he was developing, but these talks no longer progressed.
“We love Star Wars. There were early talks, there were some early talks with us… Kevin Feige is a huge Star Wars fan, and there were some early talks about maybe teaming up with Kevin to do Star Wars.”.
What happened to the Russo brothers?
The Russo brothers are currently developing their role as producers and content creators, since they recently released Citadel on Amazon Prime, in addition to considering joining James Gunn in a DC Comics project, although both have stepped aside to direct Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
