How could it be otherwise, this year’s Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 has been loaded with announcements and surprises. Between the return of Rey, and the first trailer for ‘Ahsoka’, there has also been a moment to remember the animation with one of the most interesting projects of the franchise. Because if the first season of ‘Star Wars: Visions’ left the bar high, its second volume has been stomping.
Wookies, Siths and Space Races
For this second season of ‘Star Wars: Visions’ we have left the anime a bit behind and the door has been opened to other studios with different techniques including Cartoon Saloon, Aardman Animations and Studio Mir… So we will have anime, but also stop-motion, CGI and traditional European animation to leave us with a very varied cocktail.
Among the nine studies chosen is also the Spanish study the guiri with his short ‘SITH’ directed by Rodrigo Blaas. With the first preview we have a very good taste in our mouths to represent Spanish animation, and also the short will have the voices of Úrsula Corberó and Luis Tosar both in the English and Spanish versions.
For volume 2, the truth is that the anthology has not been short with stellar signings, and it will also feature the voices of Anjelica Huston, Daniel Dae Kim, Anika Noni Rose, Daveed Digs and Steve Blumamong others.
As with the first volume of the anthology, ‘Star Wars: Visions‘ does not collect canon stories, but instead focuses on exploring the universe of George Lucas and its creative possibilities through animation. So anything can happen without affecting the main trilogies, ‘The Mandalorian’ or any of the other series.
The second season of ‘Star Wars: Visions’ premieres in full on Disney+ on May 4just in time to hit a good marathon on Star Wars Day.
