The official trailer of the new adaptation of Stephen King, ‘The Boogeyman’, premiered on Sunday the 29th during the NFC game. From the director of the pandemic phenomenon ‘Host’, Rob Savage, the film got a theatrical release on June 2, 2023, at the hands of the Disney arm of 20th Century Studiossomething remarkable, since it was originally scheduled to go directly to streaming through Hulu.
Apparently the test passes had a great response, impressing the managers which, along with King’s own approval, gave the studio the confidence to expand the film’s release strategy, a case similar to last year’s ‘Smile’, which became the highest-grossing horror film of 2022. Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps are the producers of this adaptation of a 1973 short story, which was adapted into a terrifying short in 1982.
