Finally it’s Friday! If you are a parishioner of this holy house, you already know what it is about this day of the week: review all the premieres that arrive at our cinemas. This June 16th it’s time to welcome the new dc movieto the last of Wes Andersonstill Gerard Butler wanting blood and a good handful of offers for all tastes that you can see below.
The premieres of June 16, 2023
‘Flash’ (‘The Flash’, 2023)
- It is the second to last movie in the DC Universe that we all know before James Gunn’s debut with his ‘Superman Legacy’.
- It is directed by Andy Muschietti, responsible for ‘Mom’ and the two installments of the remarkable adaptation of ‘It’.
- Ezra Miller repeats as the titular hero, and with him Michael Keaton returns to put himself in the shoes of Batman. In addition, Sasha Calle debuts as Supergirl and we will be able to see a good handful of cameos that, better, we will not reveal.
- Bet on the current trend of superhero cinema once again: the multiverses. The move comes out so-so, but luckily, he doesn’t have too much weight in the core of the film.
Criticism in Espinof: ‘The Flash’ is one of the best DC movies: Ezra Miller leads a great entertainment with a closing flavor for the Snydervese
‘Asteroid City’ (2023)
- It is the new film by Wes Anderson, loved and hated in equal parts and director of films like ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ or ‘Isle of Dogs’.
- Its cast, as usual, is stellar, and includes names like Tom Hanks, Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie or Maya Hawke, among others.
- The film, co-written by Anderson and Roman Coppola himself, takes us to 1955 to make us witness an event that could change the fate of the world.
- Fun Fact: ‘Asteroid City’, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, has a Spanish seal, since it was filmed in Chinchón, Madrid.
Criticism in Espinof: Wes Anderson in search of the definitive Wes Anderson: ‘Asteroid City’ is a family tale in quarantine overloaded with details
‘Operation Kandahar’ (‘Kandahar’, 2023)
- Operation ‘Kandahar’ is the new collaboration between Ric Roman Waugh and Gerard Butler, who already worked together on ‘Objective: Washington DC’ and on the recommendable ‘Greenland’.
- Along with Butler we find a cast made up of performers such as Navid Negahban, Bahador Foladi, Ali Fazal or Travis Fimmel.
- The film is a classic action thriller in which a CIA agent must reach Kandahar airport in a race against time after an informant has revealed his identity.
