Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, better known as AMLO, spent part of his life in Villa Tepetitanin the state of Tabasco, where he had a childhood like any other child in that community located in southern Mexico.
The house where he was born is still standing there, as well as that of his grandparents. Today both places are no longer used for housing purposes, but as cultural centers.
The house where he was born is now a library, while his grandparents’ house will soon be a museum.
The library, which has a collection of about 5,420 books and Internet access, is called Professor Carlos Mario Carrillo Carrillo and it was founded 32 years ago, however, it was not until this Friday that it was inaugurated as a public library.
As for the museum, it will be named Casa Obrador Community Museum and will open its doors on March 11, a very special date for the current president of Mexico, since his grandfather was born on that day, Don Jose Obrador Revueltto.
Inside the new cultural venue, personal objects will be exhibited and the history of the family will be known, in addition to a space for the sale of items from the region.
“The community museum tries to focus on Tepetitán as a space of historical significance, where it will be reflected through photographs, maps, and some objects donated by the community, who were interested in setting up a small museography to preserve the memory of the town” , assured the promoters of this initiative.
The house, which was also a small store and even a canteen, was abandoned for several years, but was recently remodeled and rescued by the family of the current Mexican president.
