Shawn Mendes explains the meaning and story behind his song ‘What the Hell Are We Dying For?’
After the release of ‘What the Hell Are We Dying For?’, many fans claimed that the song was inspired by Camila Cabello, even accusing the Canadian of using the singer to release new music.
However, during an interview with Apple Music, Shawn revealed in detail the meaning of his new song, as well as the story behind its composition.
Meaning of Shawn Mendes’ new song
“I feel like for the last year, I’ve really been struggling in the studio to find my voice and find myself musically and even have the courage to be in the room with the writers or get in the booth and sing.
And I was in upstate New York and right at the end of feeling a lot about relationships, about my career, about the environment. And I was in the studio and this moment of deep frustration came over me and I finally started to feel this inspiration coming.
And honestly, at the time, I felt like it was the first time I’d felt that in a year and a half in the studio. And I think it’s the most abstract thing I’ve been writing in a long time about several things at the same time.
Shawn did not mention Camila Cabello, but when speaking that he was inspired by their recent relationships, surely one or another verse is inspired by their relationship, don’t you think?
Fans are convinced Shawn Mendes has been using Camila Cabello to write new music, and they’re furious with him!
