The war for control of crime in Gotham will be unleashed in Penguin, the spin-off series of The Batman, which will present one of the most dangerous mobsters in the DC Universe, Salvatore Maroni
One of the series that is beginning to take shape is Penguin, the spin-off of The Batman that will tell about the rise of Oswald Cobblepott in the Gotham City underworld, which will cause a new chapter in the war between two criminal families, led by Carmine. Falcone and Salvatore Maroni.
Do not miss: The series The Penguin, spin-off of The Batman, already has Sofia Falcone
In recent days, as reported by SMASH, Cristin Milioti was chosen to give life to Sofia Falcone, but this is just the tip of the iceberg, since another dangerous criminal would come to this series, in the case of Salvatore Maroni.
According to comicbook, which compiles information from Iluminerdi, the Penguin producers are already casting different actors to play Salvatore Maroni, the patriarch of one of Gotham’s most entrenched criminal families.
In the plot of the Batman, Carmine Falcone was killed by The Riddler, so the fight for control of this family will shed blood in the streets of Gotham.
In the comics Salvatore Maroni made his debut in the pages of Detective Comics #66, while on the big screen Eric Roberts played this mafia leader in the plot of The Dark Knight.
Maroni is responsible for the attack on Gotham District Attorney Harvey Dent, which turned him into Two-Face.
Where will the plot of The Penguin start?
Penguin will pick up right where The Batman left off, with part of Gotham City under water after the explosions caused by Edward Nashton.
The producer of The Batman, Dylan Clark, spoke about the spin-off series that Warner Bros prepares about Penguin, which will feature Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepott.
“We’re doing one with Colin (Farrell), watching Oz rise to power, almost like a Scarface story… It’s exciting to do something like that alone, but it speaks to the character and our movie, so you’re going to go back to the movie and say, ‘ Oh, I see that backstory there, that line refers to this.”
There is still no release date for Penguin, a series that will arrive through the digital platform HBO Max.
