These days Seth Rogen is promoting ‘The Fabelmans’ and in recent years little by little we have been seeing him in increasingly serious projects, especially if we compare them with the beginnings of his career. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s we had him in much more badass and uncomfortable comedies… And of course, ‘Superbad’ is one of the first that comes to mind.
A classic, but not the last
‘Superbad’ is a great classic within the high school movies that also helped launch the careers of Jonah Hill, Emma Stone and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Despite the years, her popularity has not decreased, and according to Rogen there has not been another film that surpasses her.
“It’s crazy that Gabe [LaBelle], who is like 19 years old, and his and his friends’ favorite movie is ‘Superbad,” Rogen said. “For some reason, it doesn’t change. No one has made a good high school movie since.”
The truth is that ‘supersalidos’ It’s one of the most iconic movies in the genre and worth watching for each and every McLovin scene alone. And while some aspects of the film have aged rather poorly, it’s still very enjoyable today… But maybe Rogen isn’t quite right about it being the last good high school movie.
‘Supernerds’, ‘Easy A’, ‘The Departed in High School’ or ‘Ladybird’ arrived a few years later and are some spectacular high school movies that do not fall short either in comedy or in portraying adolescent life.
Because also if we need a spiritual and direct successor for ‘Superbad’, ‘Supernerds’ is the fresh and modernized alternative that we needed to prove that many bombings have come after that deserve our full attention.
