As the economy is, it is not uncommon for users to compare prices and quality of products. To make things easier for us, the OCU publishes the Compra Maestra magazine and the one for the month of January includes a survey answered by more than 5,000 of its members in which Spanish supermarkets are valued, rating up to 40 surfaces.
The reality is that there is no national supermarket or hypermarket that is generally suspended, standing out in the top three Hipercor, El Corte Inglés and Aldi. What does happen is that some of these surfaces fail in some of their categories: this is the case of Mercadona.
Specifically, OCU users suspend Mercadona in the Promotions and discounts category. In this case, only 4% of those surveyed are satisfied with the performance of the Juan Roig supermarket.
Also, although it does not fail, it does have one of the lowest otas in the category of variety of products available. Of course, Mercadona approves of everything else. In fact, although Hipercor or El Corte Ingl’és surpass it in the general note, Mercadona has the best rating in the private label assortment category and its availability.
