Look that it has rained while it was confirmed that Legendary had taken over the rights to make a live action movie of ‘Boku no Hero Academia’, but we already know that these things take time. Transferring anime and manga to the realm of live action is a very complicated experiment, but Netflix has decided to try their luck once again Let’s see if this is the good one.
the ninth time is the charm
Legendary Entertainment will produce the film for Netflix, although there is still a lot of work ahead and no estimated release date has been given. shinsuke sato (‘Alice in Borderland’) is in charge of the film as director and also as executive producer on his first project in English, while Joby Harold will be in charge of adapting Kohei Horikoshi’s manga.
Harold has previously worked on ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ ‘Army of Dead,’ and is credited as a screenwriter on ‘The Flash,’ so he’s no stranger to the world of superheroes.
Netflix has already had several failed attempts trying to bring anime worlds to live action, most recently with ‘Death Note’ and ‘Cowboy Bebop’, which suffered one of the most withering cancellations on the platform. Next year comes the remake of ‘One Piece’, which will have to be seen if it finally breaks the curse.
In the meantime, ‘Boku no Hero Academia‘ is already in its sixth anime season, while the manga is in its final stretch and getting closer to concluding Midoriya’s story.
