Some of you will not remember it, but a few years ago Netflix promised that it would try to end all the series that were canceled, either in the form of the last season or a movie. The promise lasted as long as ‘Sense 8’ and another couple of attempts, as we all know, but from time to time there are surprises. This is the case of ‘The last kingdom’, which It began airing on the BBC before making the leap to Netflix and its fifth and final season premiered yesterday… but he still had a surprise up his sleeve.
A king dead, king set
Although the Netflix series adapted eleven of the thirteen novels in the series, written by Bernard Cornwell, there were still stories to tell. The movie that continues the last season, ‘Seven Kings Must Die’ will be released on April 14 and will tell the last adventure of Uhtred after the death of King Edward and the battle for the crown. In a fractured kingdom, characters will meet again, alliances will have to be forged, and Uhtred will have to choose between those he loves or forming a united England.
Alexander Dreymon, the protagonist, has taken the series finale with gratitude: “It has been an honor to be a part of this story for so many years.. As an actor, I have been challenged and rewarded with the privilege of playing Uhred. Hanging the sword from him after filming ‘Seven Kings Must Die’ has felt, ironically, heavy, though I know our story has come to an end“. At least they have been able to tell the full story, not everyone has been as lucky!
The trailer makes you wait even more eagerly a two-hour film made by and for the fans Packed with epic battles, iconic characters, and the challenge of finishing a beloved series properly. We will see.
