We’ve known for years that ‘Back to the Future’ won’t have a remake as long as Robert Zemeckis is still alive, but it’s inevitable that this legendary science fiction franchise will return to the big screen at some point. Now it’s been Michel J. Fox who has come up with an idea for a reboot that I suspect will infuriate some viewers.
“They should do it with a girl”
The famous interpreter of the legendary Marty McFly has granted an interview to ET in which he has spoken of his emotional reunion with Christopher Lloyd a couple of weeks ago, but more striking is the idea that he released in the event that a reboot is made one day:
In fact, I thought if they did the movie again, they should do it with a girl like Marty. There is something in the saga that connects with people on all levels. I feel like it will be like this again.
Taking into account the harsh criticism of some viewers to all re-releases of sagas in which the protagonist becomes a woman, I doubt very much that it is an idea that will excite them. It will not matter if it is better or worse later.
In addition, the actor also made an interesting reflection on how it has not been until recently when his link with the saga ‘Back to the future’ was a step further:
The most surprising thing about ‘Back to the Future’ is that -and it has nothing to do with me- but it has this life. People not only like it and remember it, but celebrate it and hug it and get my face tattooed on their leg, and I mean it’s crazy, but in a good way. I love it and only recently have I been able to embrace it in a way. Not that he’d rejected him before, or that he wasn’t proud of it, but he didn’t quite understand how much people related to him, how much he meant to them.
