Tom Holland will not be Spider-Man in the next installment of Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bad news…
According to a report published by The Illuminerdi, Tom Holland will not be the actor who gives voice to the character of the Spiderman in the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year. This animated series is part of the projects of Marvel Studios Animation in Disney+. At the moment, it is unknown who will be the actor who will assume the role of peter parker in the animated program. However, it is already confirmed that he will not be the same performer as in the movies. Maybe it was a thing of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
There could be several reasons why Tom Holland won’t reprise his role as spider-man in the animated series Marvel Studios.
First of all, the actor may not have wanted to commit to voicing the character in the TV series. Spider-Man: Freshman Year. It could be a matter of Tom Holland not having time in his busy schedule. Or maybe there just wasn’t room in the show’s budget for such a high-profile star. It’s also possible that Marvel Studios didn’t offer the actor enough money to return as Spider-Man. This seems less likely, especially because of the affection he has for the character.
The story will follow in the footsteps of the UCM’s Peter Parker.
On the other hand, as we have already dropped, it may be a matter of the exploitation rights of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Those responsible for Morbius they own the film rights to Spider-Man. They are your property. And therefore they can do whatever they want. Although Marvel Studios has the ability to produce animated series of this character, Freshman Year could be a kind of “gray area” because it is dedicated to the Tom Holland version of the character in the MCU.
Either way, it’s a real shame not to have Tom Holland back as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Freshman Year. After all, we are talking about a new story of the arachnid character within the MCU Phase 4. The normal thing would have been to have him on board, but… For whatever reason, this time Marvel Studios has not managed to catch the actor in their nets.
