María Antonieta de las Nieves, who gave life to the character of lto “Chilindrina” in the animated series of El Chavo del 8 he is turning 72 years old.
An iconic character who crossed borders to reach many corners of Latin America and the world.
De las Nieves was born in the state of Nayarit in Mexico, on December 22, 1950. His more than 50-year artistic career earned him a Guinness record in 2021.
He began his career when he was only three years old at a Ballet academy, which was near the family home.
At the age of 6 he managed to enter the Andrés Soler de la Anda school. There he met two mentors who realized his innate talent and this led to him getting his first job in the art world.
In 1957, when she was six years old, she worked on the children’s film Pulgarcito, being a pioneer of television in this country in 1958, with the first telenovela, Forbidden path.
She was also one of the most valued dubbing actresses in Mexico when she worked at the Interamerican Film Company. CINSA at the end of the 60s.
The chilindrina
But without a doubt, the character with which he rose to stardom was obtained in the “El Chavo del 8” program, the “chilindrinathat it was about a freckled girl who is missing a tooth.
He lived with his father, Don Ramón, and although they were a family with very few resources, they always managed to get ahead.
The character of Chilindrina was also in a serious aside of the Chavo of 8.
It was called “Here is Chilindrina”, and it aired in the 90s. She does not appear later in the Chavo animated series because Roberto Gómez Bolaños did not own the rights to the character.
It was the actress herself, who registered the rights to the character in her name in 1995, after Gómez Bolaños did not do so. after more than 15 years.
It was in the year 1973 when Chilindrina left Chavo del 8 to host a program called “Pampa Pipilltzin”, alongside Julio Lucenas.
