The premiere of the new makoto shinkai in Spain it is just around the corner, and it comes with quite high expectations considering the director’s previous films. ‘Suzume‘ has already taken the Japanese box office by storm and has even become the first anime film to compete at the Berlin International Film Festival in two decades, proving that it’s going strong.
In Spain we will be able to see it from next April 14th, And with the premiere so close, Crunchyroll has already released a new trailer with a preview of their voices in Spanish.
More dubs for Crunchyroll
Since it was released with ‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’, the truth is that Crunchyroll has been betting more and more on dubbing in Spanish, which was one of the things that was most lacking on the platform. ‘suzume‘ is its great premiere in theaters for this year and the dubbing could not be missing either, in addition to the option to see it in Japanese subtitled, and from what can be seen in the trailer it looks quite good.
And yes, for those who expected that the meme of “Better dead than without a chair” stay for posterity and we would have Spanish title… Well, there is good or bad news depending on who you ask, and in the end Crunchyroll have been more restrained (and less tacky) and have left us with dry ‘Suzume’ as the title for the film.
Crunchyroll has also confirmed the main cast in Spanish, with Beatriz Llaneta as Suzume Iwato, Lucía Pérez as Suzume as a child, edson ferrero like Souta Munakata, Ana Jimenez like Tamaki Iwato and Juan Soler like Tomoya Serizawa, among others.
For ‘Suzume’, Makoto Shinkai has brought back several of his usual collaborators who also worked at the time on ‘Your Name’ and ‘Time With You’, the director’s two previous hits.
‘Suzume’ focuses on a teenager who, after meeting a mysterious young man, comes across a strange door in the middle of some ruins. Upon opening it, all kinds of disasters begin to unleash throughout Japan, so Suzume must travel the country and close them to prevent more tragedies from happening.
