There are certain tourist places around the world that are so emblematic that they are considered World Heritage Sites, so their access is totally restricted to avoid further deterioration of the treasured monuments. However, there are people who do not give them the value they deserve and, regardless of the restrictions or security of the place, they choose to enter prohibited places.
As happened last weekend in Yucatán, where a tourist circumvented the security fences of the Chichén Itzá archaeological zone and climbed the steps of the pyramid to the Kukulcán temple, from where she had to be escorted down by local personnel. . This action went viral on networks, where the woman has been nicknamed “Lady Chichén Itzá”.
Through various recordings shared by TikTok and Twitter users, the action of this woman was made known, which was taken as disrespectful. In the videos you can see the tourist jump the security cordons and begin to climb step by step the 91 steps that make up the pyramid.
In the middle of the way you can see that it rests for a moment, to then continue with its mission and reach the top of the temple. Already at the top, with her hands raised as a sign of victory after having climbed the pyramid, the tourist begins to dance from one side to the other. However, a few minutes later she is taken down and guarded back by security personnel from the compound.

The woman’s action did not take long to generate annoyance and disgust among the other tourists, who yelled at her to get off and that her action was a great lack of respect for the archaeological zone. In addition, when “Lady Chichén Itzá” came down from it, they did not hesitate to receive her with shouts, pulls, pushes and even threw water at her.
Between shouts of “jail” and “sacrifice”, the tourist was guarded by a couple of security men from the place, while two enraged women followed her, pulling her hair for not respecting the rules of the place.

However, the bad decision that this tourist made will not end in simple shouting and pulling, since, according to article 47 of the Federal Law on Archaeological Monuments, the fine for this type of disfigurement can range from 50 to 100 thousand Mexican pesos, which is equivalent to 2,500 to 5,100 dollars.
