Thanks to the occasional recent production -especially ‘The Last of Us’-, we live in a world in which the announcement of a video game adaptation on the big screen has stopped causing cold sweats and the omen of a disaster of titanic proportions. It is because of this that I couldn’t be happier that ‘Dead by Deadlight’ is going to be the next to make the leap from interactive media to cinema.

The study’s horror video game Behavior Interactivethrough which legends of cinematographic horror such as Pinhead, Sadako or Ghostfacewill be transferred to the feature film format by James Wan and Jason Blum under their respective labels Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions; an infallible duo that has just made the parishioners fall in love with their viral ‘M3GAN’.
Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President of Behavior Interactivehas celebrated the announcement, published exclusively by Variety, as follows.

Of course, Wan has also joined the round of praise. promising to rise to the occasion.
“In ‘Dead by Daylight,’ the Behavior team have created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible setting bursting with atmosphere and terrifying villains perfect for a chilling film adaptation. We at Atomic Monster are huge fans of the game, and We’re excited to team up with Blumhouse to bring this visceral world to the big screen.”
Finally, Jason Blum has stressed that they are prioritizing find the right filmmakers and screenwriters to shape a project that, for the moment, does not have names associated with it beyond the production department.
“We know there are a lot of ‘Dead by Daylight’ fans out there and I think it’s imperative to find someone who appreciates and loves their world as much as we do to help us bring this game to the big screen. We know our Partners at Behavior and Atomic Monster will help us bring the best version of this game to life.”
Of course for now there is no release date for a ‘Dead by Deadlight’ whose state of gestation is still early. We’ll be aware of any developments while we dust off the controller and play a few games to lighten the wait time. Will someone sign up?
