The singer of the urban genre Ivy Queen took advantage of being in Hollywood to go through the Walk of Fame and visit the star of her idol, the Cuban singer Celia Cruz. He shared the moment on his Instagram profile to express the admiration and respect he feels for the salsa legend.
“I came at the foot of the woman who has impacted and influenced my life the most. Through her I learned so much. Being different is breaking the mold. I was going to the Queen, the unrepeatable, and Majestic”reads the caption of the photo next to the pink marble star of ‘La Guarachera de Cuba’ that ‘La Caballota’ uploaded to her Instagram feed.
The Puerto Rican assured that she lived a moving moment in front of the star of her musical idol. In her Instagram stories, she also shared videos and a photo of Celia Cruz when she received this distinction in 1987.
“I needed to connect with the moments that brought joy (to Celia) and this is evident,” said the interpreter of ‘I want to dance’.
In the past, Ivy Queen had already declared herself a faithful admirer of the salsa legend. In 2022 the artist dedicated an article to the Cuban to rolling stones in a special titled “Icons and Influences”.
“Celia taught me that having a singular, particular voice is a gift”, commented the ‘Queen’, recalling her difficult beginnings in the urban genre when she was told that her voice was male.
‘La Caballota’ has as one of her greatest treasures, even as an inheritance for her daughter, a DVD of a concert that Celia Cruz did in Africa. He always sees that presentation of ‘The Queen of Salsa’.
“I want her to meet (her daughter) the women who gave everything to pave the way for us who are now working in the music industry,” said Ivy Queen.
