The imminent premiere of ‘Oppenheimer’ is leading to Christopher Nolan make several comments around what promises to be the most ambitious film of his entire career. For now, we already have confirmed that it will be the longest and now the director has stated that those who have already had the opportunity to see it have reacted viscerally to what they have seen on the screen.
“It’s full of impossible questions”
During a stimulating chat with Wired, Nolan has assured that the reactions during the first test passes have been incredibleto the point that “some characters leave the film totally devastated“. In this regard, the also director of ‘Memento’ or ‘The Dark Knight’ points out the following:
They can’t talk. There is an element of fear in the story and in the fundamentals. But the love of the characters, the love of the relationships, is as strong as it’s ever been.
Nolan is clear that ‘Oppenheimer’ is “an intense experience because it is an intense story“and reveals that”I showed it to another director who recently said it’s almost a horror movie. I agree with him“. Between that and everything he commented on recreate the explosion of an atomic bomb without the use of CGI, his new work promises to be an unforgettable movie.
the filmmaker also stands out that “Oppenheimer’s story is full of impossible questions. Impossible ethical dilemmas, paradoxes. There are no easy answers in his story. There are just tough questions, and that’s what makes the story so compelling. I think we were able to find a lot of things to be optimistic about in the movie, really, but there’s kind of a big question hanging over it. It was essential that in the end there were questions left in people’s heads, that prompted debate“.
‘Oppenheimer’ opens in Spain next July 20th, in direct competition with ‘Barbie’, another of the most anticipated films of this 2023 but that a priori appeals to a totally different audience. I’m looking forward to seeing both.
