it cannot be said that ‘Knights of the Zodiac’the live action movie from the popular universe of ‘Saint Seiya’, it looked very good, but one always has to keep the hope of getting a positive surprise. Unfortunately, everything indicates that this will not happen in this case, since the first reviews of this remake in live action are being very bad and the comparisons with ‘Dragonball Evolution’ are very numerous.
overwhelming unanimity
To see it in Spain, we will have to wait until May 26, but last weekend it was released in countries like Argentina, Brazil, Mexico or Japan, achieving a rather weak result at the box office. For example, in Japan it had to settle for eighth place, since its arrival in theaters there coincided with that of ‘Super Mario Bros. The Movie’, being mercilessly crushed by the fun animated adventure of the plumber from Nintendo.
Things have not improved in terms of critical response either. For example, Cesar Ovandofrom 3DJuegos Latam, has assured that it is “a movie as bad as Dragon Ball Evolution” in his review. For his part, paul lopez of SPDNoticias points out that “it respects practically nothing of the original, being a 100% western material, in the worst of its meanings“, while santiago garcia de Leer Cine concludes the following:
Ugly visual effects, pompous and lackluster dialogue, subpar acting, and the utter idea that we’ve only seen a prologue make this two-hour feature film a rip off for viewers.
It is also worth noting that Eric Romerofrom IGN Latin America, points out that “if you’re a fan who grew up watching Knights of the Zodiac, you’ll hate this movie and think you could have used your time better“. It seems quite clear that the consensus is that this is a film that will be remembered only for bad reasons.
However, it is always better to check it yourself and in Spain we will have the opportunity to do so in just a few weeks. At least some say that Sean Bean or Madison Iseman they are saved a bit from burning, but I have my doubts that this will be enough of an incentive for many to want to see it.
