If ‘Detective Conan’ is a great machine for making anime movies with twenty-five on the list… ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ has received a couple of reviews because He is already preparing his 31st film for this year, and also changing the scenery by going to CGI.
Ok, we are very used to ‘Shin Chan’ usual with that very specific style of anime, so when the plans for this film were announced it is normal for us to squeal. But the first trailer has finally arrived and it seems that it looks much better than many of us expected.
Super powers and flying sushi
The full title of the film is ‘Shin Jingen! Crayon Shin-chan THE MOVIE Chounouryoku Daikessen: Totobe Temaki Sushi‘, and apparently it has wasted seven years in production. Hitoshi One (‘Bakuman’) debuts as a feature film director, and the studio Shirogumi (‘Stand By Me Doraemon’) is handling animation.
The new ‘Shin-chan’ movie opens in Japan on August 4, 2023. Not much is known about its international distribution yet, but in Spain Shinnosuke’s films are gradually reaching us, so we are going to cross our fingers very strongly to see if the bell rings.
The trailer shows us a little bit of this transformation of ‘Shin-chan’ from the manga to the new style in CGI, and it seems that they have found a good balance with a fairly cartoon style and with the right touches of realism. Not too much of the plot has been revealed, but it seems that some kind of phenomenon occurs that gives some characters powers.
The previous film in the franchise, ‘Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden’ was released in April 2022 and managed to reach second place at the box office. Now to see if the flying sushi in CGI they get over it.
