The children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now officially recognized by British royalty as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex. Now they are part of the line of succession in the 6th and 7th position, although these titles had been under speculation due to the bad relations between the Dukes of Sussex, King Charles III and Prince William.
From this Thursday, March 9, on the official Buckingham Palace website, the little ones went from appearing as master and miss to prince and princess of Sussex. The recognition occurs six months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II and less than two months after the coronation of Carlos III.
According to the British magazine Mail Online, the king had promised his youngest son that he would recognize his grandchildren with the titles, but the rudeness and incendiary statements in recent times, which include everything from interviews to a book, in which royalty is left in a very bad light, cast doubt on that promise.
Harry and Meghan, despite having renounced their duties to royalty, claimed the titles of princes for their two children, arguing that by “birthright” they were to be called Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In fact, the news of the new titles was released by the Dukes of Sussex themselves through their spokesperson, who announced that last Friday “Princess Lilibet” was baptized in Los Angeles. King Carlos III, Queen Consort Camila, Prince William and his wife, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, were invited to the ceremony; however, there was no royal presence for unconfirmed reasons.
The news of the christening and the titles of princes has been known only a week after it was known that the king ordered the eviction of Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage, the only house they had in the United Kingdom and that will now be occupied by the Duke of York , Prince Andrew.
Meanwhile, The youngest son of the late Princess Diana has not yet confirmed if he and his wife will attend the coronation of Carlos III on May 6.
