People’s attempts to be famous and go viral on the TikTok platform are increasing and some no longer find what to invent in order to gain followers and views on their videos. That’s why there are influencers that they pull certain tricks out of their sleeves or try to rename foods or drinks that already exist, making their followers believe that it is something new.
Like the case of this tiktoker American, who went viral on the short video platform for having invented the new “spa water”, a drink that in a mini-tutorial explains how to prepare it and users show that it is a simple fresh cucumber water.
Through her profile, Gracie Norton (@gracie_norton), originally from Indiana, United States, shared a recording of approximately 15 seconds, in which she explained what her most recent drink consisted of, which she named Spa Water.
It turns out that during his tutorial, Norton explained that his drink, whose ingredients are water, cucumber, lemon and a little ice, has many health benefits, as it works as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and is good for digestion.

A girl made a fresh water and passed it off as ‘spa water’.
A few hours after sharing her video, the new invention of “spa water” gained popularity on the social network, which allowed the recording to reach the eyes of Latinos, who immediately identified that the young woman was actually preparing was a simple fresh lemon water with cucumber, one of the most popular Mexican drinks.
The tiktoker that is dedicated to sharing content on good nutrition recommendations began to receive criticism and indignant comments from Latino users, who branded it cultural appropriation, since it did not take the precaution of verifying if its product did not refer to another already existing.
After the strong wave of criticism and comments that the woman deceived the public in order to obtain an economic benefit from the alleged Spa WaterGracie Norton removed all the videos in which she talked about the controversial drink from her account and shared a recording in which she apologized.
I recently shot a series of ‘spa waters’, which I incorrectly titled. The proper name of this drink is ‘fresh water’ and the origin belongs to the Latin community. I sincerely apologize to the Latino community and those of you whom I have offended. After talking to several people who commented on the situation, I now understand why I have offended so many people. I only had good intentions and was hoping to share a recipe that I thought might help people with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) symptoms. I hope that in time, everyone will know how much I have learned from this experience and that I am truly sorry for the people I have offended.

The peculiar confusion of this American girl not only received all kinds of comments, but some creative users on TikTok created funny skits that showed what Gracie Norton’s visit to a fresh water stand would be like. Calm down! A mistake is made by anyone.
