One of the great pleasures in life is to start a gathering with family or friends with an aperitif. It gives us a chance to relax and talk until the food is ready, and we whet our appetite with them.
As explained in Directo al Paladar, if we want to get to the table without hunger and with excess calories eating only appetizers, we must choose them wisely and “avoid snacks with a more addictive character (such as fried and salted nuts, potatoes chips or crackers), avoid the very satiating ones, and leave aside commercial sauces and very cured cheeses, for example, which are saltier and less recommended, especially in summer.
That’s why we’re going to choose light snacksmoisturizing and that do not add unnecessary calories before eating, with which to enjoy a healthy snack on the weekend without worrying about whether we will be eating too much, starting with the simplest of all: some melon skewers with crispy ham.
If there is a summer recipe that is the melon with ham, but we are going to give it extra sophistication with crispy ham. For the melon we use a baller like this one and for the crunchy one we just have to follow the instructions of the Directo al Paladar recipe and dry it in the microwave, that appliance in which we can make so many recipes.

Goat cheese dip with marinated apricots
This summer recipe for goat cheese spread with apricots as the protagonists is perfect for add fruit to our diet in a different way (as in this selection of recipes with fruit). Instead of accompanying it with nachos or derivatives, we can put homemade pita bread and vegetable crudités.
Beetroot gazpacho
We love Cordovan salmorejo, but since it contains bread, it may fill us up more and it is better as a starter than as an appetizer. Instead this beet gazpacho is light and we can serve it in little glasses to make it a shot, not a full plate. In Directo al Paladar they offer us two more gazpachos that you can see in the video.
