Times change and the truth is that it is increasingly common for stereotypes to be broken and that makes us feel very happy, because we never imagined that contests like beauty contests, for example, would change their requirements and allow women who will be mothers to participate. or that are inclusive in other aspects, such as the case of Daniela Arroyo, the first transgender woman to compete for the Puerto Rican crown and to be the representative of the Miss Universe pageant.
It was through the organization of Miss Universe Puerto Rico that the selection of Daniela Arroyo, the first transgender contestant to compete for the country’s crown, was announced.

Daniela Arroyo, is known on the Caribbean island for winning a federal lawsuit in 2018 against the Government of Puerto Rico, which allows people to change their sex on the birth certificate. Likewise, she Daniela is co-founder of the Trans Youth Coalition of Puerto Rico.
In this way, she will compete alongside other candidates to be the successor to Ashley Ann Cariño Barreto, Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2022 and if she is the winner, she will have to represent her country in the 2023 edition, which will be held in El Salvador. .
