23 years ago the rappers Eminem -whose real name is Marshall Mathers– got one of his biggest hits with the single “The Real Slim Shady”, and from then on his public addressed him with that additional nickname. He is now determined to prevent the name of the podcast from Reasonably Shadycreated by gizelle bryant and Robyn Dixonbecomes a registered trademark to market clothing and beauty products.
Last week the artist presented documents that demonstrate his disagreementsince according to him the brand could cause confusion with “Shady” or “Slim Shady”, terms that he registered for more than two decades for use both in his albums and in the merchandise sold at his concerts.
So far Bryant and Dixon -leaders of the reality show “Real housewives of Potomac” – have not ruled on the matterbut Eminem will do everything possible to prevent the project of the creators of the podcast from coming true, because according to what it indicates in its opposition documents “the Slim Shady and Shady brands have become and are an extremely valuable symbol of Mathers, its reputation and goodwill”.
