For almost two months it was revealed that the actress drew Barrymore would be the driver in the delivery of the MTV Movie & TV Awards this year but Through a statement, she informed that she will not attend the event on Sunday, May 7, in solidarity with the Hollywood scriptwriters.who are currently on strike.
The 48-year-old actress -who has won that award three times- announced that he will see the show from his home, but next year he will be present as the host of the next installment: “I have listened to the writers and, to show that I really respect them, I will not be the live host of the MTV Movie & TV Awards, in solidarity with the strike. Everything we celebrate and honor in movies and on television is born from his creation. And until a solution is reached, I choose to wait, but I will be watching (the show) from home and I hope you will join me. Thanks to MTV, who really have been some of the best colleagues I’ve ever worked with. And I can’t wait to be a part of this next year, when I can really celebrate all that MTV has created: a show that allows fans to choose who wins the awards, and that is truly inclusive.”
This year the delivery of the MTV Movie & TV Awards will not have a red carpetand although Drew will not attend, they will be broadcast sketches in which she appears and which were previously recorded. for his part Bruce Gilmer, executive producer of the awards, said he understands the actress’s decision and that he will be delighted that Barrymore will host the 2024 show: “It is not a surprise that she shows solidarity with the writers, whom we have full respect. She has our full support, she will not be with us live for the show and we will essentially be left without a host.”
