The Canadian rapper “Drake” will not testify in the trial for the murder of American rapper Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, better known as “XXXTentacion”.
His murder occurred on June 18, 2018, when Onfroy went to Bank of America to withdraw money before heading to RIVA Motorsports, an upscale motorcycle and boat dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
After withdrawing the money, he was followed by a dark colored Dodge Journey SUV where Dedrick Williams, Robert Allen, Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome were allegedly present.
A car was chasing them. Onfroy arrived at RIVA Motorsports and walked in with his uncle.Security camera footage showed suspects Robert Allen and Dedrick Williams followed Onfroy into the store and walked past him as he was looking at motorcycles.
In moments there was a brief fight in which it is alleged that an alleged theft of Onfroy’s chain and in the middle of the struggle his uncle fled. When the robbery was over, one of the suspects is believed to have grabbed his rifle and shot him six times, taking his life.
After three men were brought to trial for the murder of the American rapper, the defense team suggested that rapper Drake should also be questioned.
This as a result of a mysterious publication that the victim posted days before he died.
A judge, named Michael A. Usan, approved that the Canadian not be brought to court to testify.
Earlier, one of the defendants’ defense attorneys argued that Drake should be present at the trial, due to a dispute he would have with the deceased.
But Bradford Cohen, Drake’s lawyer, explained that his client did not have any relevant information to add to the case, so the judge agreed.
The defendants’ lawyer, as the process allows, can still try to convince the judge handling this case that the Canadian rapper be investigated.
So far, 28-year-old Michael Boatwright and 24-year-old Trayon Newsome are accused of being the shooter and gunman, respectively, while 26-year-old Dedrick Williams is accused of being the driver.
