What is drag art?
It is a form of artistic expression in which performers, known as drag queens or drag kings, use theatre, fashion, makeup and acting to transform themselves into exaggerated and glamorous characters. Through live performances, drag performers explore gender identity, challenge social norms, and provide entertainment through comedy, song, and dance. Drag art is a diverse and creative cultural manifestation that has gained popularity and recognition throughout the world, especially through programs such as The Most Dredger in Mexico and RuPaul’s Drag Race internationally.
What happens in Drag Race Mexico?
In this edition for Mexico there are 11 competitors who represent different regions of the country with their drag expression.
The cast of the season includes Argennis (Ciudad Juárez), Cristian Peralta (Guadalajara), Gala Varo (Morelia), Lady Kero (Oaxaca), Margaret y Ya (CDMX), Matraka (León), Miss Vallarta (Puerto Vallarta), Pixie Pixie (CDMX), Regina Voce (CDMX), Serena Morena (Aguascalientes) and Vermelha Noir (Querétaro).
In a 12-episode series through challenges that involve demonstrating their artistic qualities in the field of drag. Óscar Madrazo and the international drag stars Lolita Banana (Mexican participant in Drag Race France) and Valentina (participant in Drag Race in the United States), will be in charge of guiding the 11 contestants and making each moment an experience that they define as “I- CÓ-NI-CA”. Additionally, in each episode there will be a panel of judges that will have guest stars in each episode to define a queen eliminated per occasion.
The prize for the winner is a scepter and crown, accompanied by a sum of 550,000 Mexican pesos and beauty supplements from a prestigious brand.
On the night of June 21, they presented the project to the press and special guests at a location in Mexico City, where the cast of the program lived together and gave their first impressions of this project.
Although this event brought together winners and former contestants of La Más Draga, a show that has 5 editions on YouTube, a Mexican version that was inspired by Drag Race to make drag art visible in Mexico.

It will be available through the Paramount+ platform, each Thursday it premieres an episode at 00:00, and on MTV at 9:00 p.m.
Who is Rupaul?
Ru Paul Charles, artistically known as RuPaul. He is an iconic American drag performer, actor, television host, and producer. He is known for being the creator and host of the famous reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race, where he searches for the next drag superstar. RuPaul has been a leading figure in the LGBTQ+ community and has left a huge influence on popular culture.
This program has 15 seasons and 8 special editions of contestants seeking to achieve the crown to be a drag superstar, this only in the United States.
It has currently developed franchises in 15 countries around the world: including Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Thailand, Sweden, the Philippines, Italy, Australia and New Zealand, to name a few. Now it is Mexico’s turn.
