A few years ago, a series like ‘Cristo & Rey’ (one of the best titles in history, probably) it would have been censored and in a trunk under four hundred keys. Now, after everything that has happened in recent years, we can have a blockbuster that speaks openly about the slips (to call them in a nice way) of King Juan Carlos I of a spectacular way and far removed from the underground in which I would once be trapped.
Once upon a time there was a circus
Jaime Lorente and Belén Cuesta star ‘Cristo & Rey’, one of the pillars of Atresmedia in the coming months that is sure to give something to talk about (the trending topic has it insured) and joins productions such as ‘XRey’ or ‘Salvar al rey’, which for some time now have been allowed the freedom of speak openly about the crown in a way far removed from the usual way up to now. If the documentaries and series on the Spanish monarchy were more similar to a telepromotion than to ‘The crown’ or ‘Spencer’, things are about to change.
In the trailer we see a violent toxic love story between Bárbara Rey and Ángel Cristo, which becomes a triangle with a single word: “Majesty”. As its creators themselves indicate, it is a story of love, violence, drugs, sex… And the king. It is impossible that it is not on your lists of the most anticipated of the year.

will be eight episodes of 50 minutes each directed by Daniel Écija, author of ‘7 lives’, ‘Los Serrano’, ‘Los hombres de Paco’ or ‘El internado’. Hardly anything, huh? We know that ‘Cristo & Rey’ will try to do justice to a woman who in her day became a national joke but who has a story worth telling. No release date yetbut we are already counting the hours.
