The Manchester United midfielder scored his sixth goal with the ‘Seleção’ in the 83rd minute, one of the favorites for the title and leader of Group G with a perfect score in two games. The feisty Swiss, meanwhile, is second with three.
The goal from the stainless front-line midfielder gave north to a ‘scratch’ that had little creativity in stadium 974, partly due to the good defensive performance of the Swiss.
The five-time champions will close the group stage against Cameroon on Friday at the Lusail stadium. On the same day Switzerland will collide with Serbia in 974.
Cameroonians and Serbs add a point after drawing this Monday in an entertaining game (3-3).

dull new beginning
At the end of the first half, the two gigantic screens of the 974 stadium focused on a Brazilian fan whose face and gestures explained the first half of Brazil well: eyes slightly open and hands holding the jaw, as if he were praying.
The ‘Seleção’ once again had a mixed first half, similar to the one they had against Serbia (2-0) in their debut in Qatar. But this time with an aggravating circumstance: she couldn’t count on Neymar to rescue her.
At least not physically, because before the initial whistle, the ’10’ sent a message of encouragement to his teammates from the hotel in Doha where he is recovering from the right ankle injury: “Come on!”, he wrote in a story that posted on Instagram alongside a television image of the warm-up.
Although his replacement, Lucas Paquetá, has already replaced him successfully, he had problems with the fierce mark of Remo Freuler. Even so, in a couple of actions (minutes 12 and 19), with subtle touches, he threatened to bring danger to Yann Sommer’s goal.
With the English West Ham man eclipsed, the offensive responsibility fell to Raphinha and Vinicius Jr on the wings and Fred in the center. In addition to being supportive in defense, the first was the most active, with a cross shot from the left that ‘Vini’ hit before falling and Sommer sent for a corner (27).
That was the only clear goal option in the first half, in which the Swiss approach was effective at times stealing the ball from Brazil and mortifying their exit, taking advantage of the technical limitations of Éder Militao on the right side, replacing the bruised Danilo.
But the Swiss, without Xherdan Shaqiri, with apparent muscle ailments and replaced by the youthful 20-year-old Fabian Rieder, fell short on offense: as against Serbia, Alisson had little work.
