Among the wild barrage of titles for the big and small screen that the people of Marvel Studios presented at the last Comic-Con, one of the ones that generated the most expectations was ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, a series of —eye— 18 episodes that will arrive at Disney + during the final stretch of Phase 5 from the MCU; specifically in the spring of 2024.
Taking that “Born Again” thing to heart
Since we learned of its existence, everything has been unknown about a production that borrows his name from one of the character’s most revered arcs —Signed by Master Frank Miller. Would the story continue where the excellent Netflix show left off? Will it inherit its somber and mature tone? Will he play something radically different?
This weekend, within the framework of D23, Charlie Cox, who will again put himself in the shoes of Matt Murdock, shed some light on the matter with some statements that they will slightly break the heart of those who expected a continuous product with the last step of the Man without fear through the cathodic medium.
“It’s a first season, not a fourth season, so it’s something completely new. I think it’s the way to go. If you’re going to do something again, do it differently.”
Without having seen a single promotional image, it’s too soon to tear your clothes and, although thinking of a title like ‘Born Again’ seems radically antagonistic to a lighter setting, we can’t forget that recently writers like Mark Waid they have left us more than remarkable stages in the world of comics, so the tone is the least of it.
For now, all that remains is to light a candle and pray that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is half as strong as its predecessor. In little less than two years we will leave doubts.
