With resiliencethe second album of this Spanish singer, makes it clear that he is not a one-album artist. This is how Beret presents us with the most resilient side of him.
By Alberto Rojas
Three years ago Beret released his first album, Prism, but now, with a lot of things that he has lived through, he brings us Resiliente, a production with 14 tracks and top-level collaborations with artists like Morat and Estopa, among others. His first single looking at the moonin which Reik collaborates, was already a success.
In this exclusive interview, Beret presents us with his most resilient side so that you can get to know him in depth.
How did the collaboration with Reik come about in looking at the moon?
I followed Reik since he was very little, I was lucky to meet them and that this admiration was reciprocal. I wanted to release a song that was a typical Reik ballad, that was about a romantic but very toxic relationship, one of those in which one realizes that one has to love oneself more than loving someone else. It was very organic.
What is the difference between resilience Y Prism?
I think resilience it has much more heart and more empathy, the stories can connect more with people. primsa It was the anticipation of many singles he had put out over the years. In these two and a half years I realized that these songs that I thought were independent were actually part of an album, that has given a lot of diversity to resilience.
What was the main challenge of making resilience?
Putting together all the collaborations on the album knowing that they were different musical categories and finding a common ground for them in the studio.
How did all these collaborations come about?
They all came out in a very organic way. I met all of them previously, and as with Reik, the admiration was mutual with the others as well. I like to challenge myself and sit down and make songs with people who have nothing to do with me. If I know there’s common ground there, there’s going to be common ground in the studio, too.
Why the title of resilience beyond what a song on the album is called?
I think there are many people who need to see themselves within these songs, they are resilient because they have had the ability to return to being themselves despite all circumstances.
Why would people have to listen resilience today?
Because we have to be aware that vulnerability and weakness is what often makes us stronger than we think. You have to normalize good and bad emotions, and resilience It is the shield of the human being against anything.
What moments have you experienced that have made you resilient?
I have gone through the death of my sister, a lot of anxiety about the pandemic, I even had a bit of agoraphobia (the fear of open spaces), I have had the need to express myself and that is resilient.
