Allison Strong was such a shy girl that her mom was pretty worried.
“She didn’t talk much, and on top of that she was an only child,” recalls the 32-year-old artist, in whom no trace of that reserved attitude remains.
What her mother did was enroll her in musical theater classes. She was 7 years old when she not only surprised that she began to speak but that she also sang.
Allison took her singing lessons very seriously, so after a while she asked to be given a solo role in a play. After begging and begging, she finally got it. After the musical ended, several parents of other children approached Allison’s mother to tell her that the girl would one day be on Broadway.
And they were not wrong.
Allison continued her studies in musical theater, and while in high school she auditioned for a role and landed her first role in America’s theater mecca. However, on the recommendation of her agent, she began auditioning for film and television; that’s how she got a part in The Week Of, which stars Adam Sandler.
Now, however, he is back with his first love, music. She recently premiered “La Luna”. This cut will be part of the artist’s second EP, which will be released in mid-June.
“I was raised by my mom and my grandmother, and this song is a tribute to my grandmother,” she said. “She told me, ‘I love you to Pluto and beyond’; when she died I imagined that she became a star in the firmament ”.
Allison says that this topic is like a conversation between her and her grandmother, and she hopes with her to strike a chord with the public “because at one point we all wanted to talk to someone who is no longer here.”
The video that accompanies the song also has its fantastic part. Allison mixed magical realism because “I’m Colombian and I have that in mind.” Although she was born in the United States, her family is from Cali and she feels a strong connection to the land of her ancestors.
To promote the album, Allison will offer concerts in New York and New Jersey in the coming days. He hopes these shows will be the beginning of a series of performances across the country.
