Baldwin was brandishing a Colt .45 pistol while rehearsing scenes for the film on the New Mexico set, when a shot was fired, killing Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
The Hollywood star, accused of involuntary manslaughter, has pleaded not guilty.
The works will be resumed this Thursday in another set at the Yellowstone Film Estate, in Montana, in the northwest of the United States.
“The production will continue to work with union members and will prohibit the use of firearms and any type of ammunition,” Melina Spadone, a lawyer for Rust Movie Productions, said in a statement sent to AFP. “Fire ammunition is, and always was, prohibited on set.”
The producers announced in February that the low-budget film would return to set in the spring, with the cinematographer’s widower, Matthew Hutchins, serving as executive producer.
To complete the filming of the film, Baldwin agreed to the conditions of a New Mexico court, such as a ban on drinking alcohol or using weapons.
At the time, director Joel Souza, who will also be back, issued a statement.
“As bittersweet as it is, I’m grateful to have a bright and dedicated new production team join a cast and crew committed to completing what Halyna and I started,” he said. “Every effort on this film will be dedicated to honoring Halyna’s legacy and making her proud. It is a privilege to care for this in her name.”
A documentary will also be made about the life of Halyna Hutchins and the making of the film.
Baldwin, one of the co-producers as well as the lead, and the film’s gunman, Hannah Gutierrez-Read, face manslaughter charges.
If convicted, both face up to 18 months in jail and a $5,000 fine. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for early May.
Baldwin, 65, says he did not pull the trigger the day of the incident and was told by assistant director Dave Halls that the gun was “cold” when he handed it over. The jargon is used in the world of entertainment as a synonym for downloaded.
Halls was charged with negligent use of a deadly weapon, settled with prosecutors and was sentenced last month to six months probation.
