Adidas has just surprised the world with the launch of its new collection Superstar, inspired by the traditional mexican sweet bread: la concha!
The sportswear company was inspired by the delicious bread with which you accompany your morning coffee, to create a new line of tennis shoes in shades of pink, white and brown. What has surprised the most about these designs are the textures and fabrics used in each piece, which have divided the internet between those who say it is the brand’s worst creation and those who consider it something very kawaiiI mean, very cute.
The idea for this collection arose after the Tomasa and Santas Conchas bakeries, located in Mexico City, gave away delicious shells in paper bags with the Adidas logo. The brand found out about what had happened and wanted to show its appreciation for the free publicity, creating one of the most controversial sneaker collections of the year.
This collection was promoted through the official Adidas Instagram account, a site where they shared images of the pieces that will be available in stores.
Superstar Includes three colors inspired by the three shell flavors: Vanilla, Strawberry, and Chocolate. These models will be available as of May 18, in physical and online stores and will cost approximately $115.
As expected, the internet has already reacted to the new tennis designs, and there are already those who labeled them as the worst creation of the year, while others assured that they would invest every penny of their savings in order to acquire them.
