James Gunn and Peter Safran have just announced a new list of upcoming DC projects, including a new film version of ‘Swamp Thing’, known in our country as ‘The Swamp Thing’. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has updated the news on that project, reporting today that James Mangold, the man behind ‘Logan’ e ‘Indiana Jones and the dial of fate‘ is now in talks to lead the project.
A much more gruesome version
According to Variety, the upcoming film will investigate the dark origins of the Swamp Thing, with several other DC characters joining him in the film, which Gunn says will be “a lot more horrifying, but we’ll still have the Swamp Thing interacting with the other characters.” part, Mangold has confirmed his participation by uploading a cartoon of the character to twitter, in his incarnation drawn by his creator, Bernie Wrightson.

‘Swamp Thing’ had a recent television version in a series for DC Universe produced by James Wan. Derek Mears played the character in the only season, which barely aired and was cancelled.. In fact, the series was a miscalculation of DC’s own television feint, and of its The original thirteen episodes were reduced to ten due to budgetary concerns, as, with North Carolina’s adjusted tax relief cancelled, an accounting error made by the state caused the budget to fall short of plan.
There was also a ‘Swamp Thing’ feature film in 1982, directed by Wes Craven and starring Dick Durock as the creature. That film spawned a sequel and a two-season television series. There was another five-episode animated series that corresponded with Kenner’s action figure collection released in 1990.
