The sequel to Dune is one of the most anticipated of the year, especially since fans hope to see Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet together again, who star in a fictional romance, and whose uncomfortable details have been revealed.
Zendaya Reveals Awkward Romantic Scenes With Timothée Chalamet In Dune 2
It was during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where Zendaya, Timothée, and the film’s director, Denis Villanueva, spoke to Vanity Fair about how uncomfortable it was filming the romantic scenes between the actors.
“It was fun trying to figure out how the two flirted in this futuristic space story. What is love like for a space warrior and the young duke of a planet? How do they show that they like each other?
We definitely tried to capture that, which was funny because we were all stumped. I think it was just as weird for us as it probably is for the characters,” the actress stressed.
Let’s remember that Zendaya plays Chani, a member of the Fremen tribe who lives in the Arrakis desert, while Timothée plays the young Paul Atreides, the dam of a planet.
The director was aware of the importance of these romantic scenes, because if the actors didn’t show chemistry, the movie didn’t make sense.
“I was telling my team all the time: ‘The most important thing is that spark, that relationship between these two characters. If we don’t capture that, if we don’t have that on the screen, there’s no movie,” he revealed.
Fortunately, Zendaya and Timothée found a way to capture the love their characters feel on screen.
