Tech News Desk – Talking about viral photos and videos, some people have made it a means of blackmail. They pressurize people in the name of publishing nude pictures and videos of the victims and demand money from them. The internet is full of stories of revenge porn. Today we are going to tell you that if for some reason someone’s photo or video goes viral, then what should that person do?
Know what is revenge porn?
Revenge porn is sharing explicit pictures or videos of a person without their consent with the goal of harassing them. The idea of revenge porn is not new. There are approximately 3,000 websites that publish photographs on their sites without the permission of victims. People who frequent these websites post derogatory or offensive comments about the victim.
Can complain in these cases
When a personal offensive video goes viral.
On making personal disputed statements and conversations.
On making the video viral by creating fake ID on the social site.
When nude photos and videos go viral on social media sites.
On objectionable viral videos running on Facebook and YouTube.
Keep proof of viral photo or video: First of all, keep the screenshot and link of that viral photo-video with you as a proof. Take screenshots of all websites and links to pages where your photos appear. Report images and videos on social media: If your video is on chat apps like WeChat, Telegram and WhatsApp as well as on websites like YouTube, TikTok, Pornhub, then report that video.
Send DMCA Notices to Websites: A Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice (PDF) tells the person or company hosting or linking to your photos that the photos infringe copyright and should be removed. Report to the police station: If any of your private videos or photos have gone viral, the first thing you should do is to file a report with your local police station. You should also tell the police if you were a minor in the photographs or if the offender took your picture without your knowledge.
File a complaint with the FTC. If a website posted your picture without your consent and refuses to take it down, you should file a complaint with the FTC. The FTC can prosecute entities that refuse to comply. Use the Take It Down tool. The Take It Down tool operated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children allows you to anonymously (and without uploading the image) create a digital fingerprint of any image or video that you share on anything other than Facebook . Can be removed from Instagram, Ubo, Pornhub and Onlyfans.
