Lana Lang’s origin in the comics is given in the pages of Superboy #10 (1950). She was created by Bill Finger (co-creator of Batman) and John Sikela. Through the years, Lana made her way to film and television, played by actresses like Annete O’Toole and recently by Emmanuelle Chriqui.
But who captivated millions of viewers around the world was the actress Kristin Kreuk, who was born on December 30, 1982 in Vancouver, Canada, of Dutch and Chinese descent.
In his childhood, Kreuk practiced different sports such as karate and gymnastics in high school, but a condition in his spine made him abandon competitive sports.
From Edgemont to Smallville
Before graduating from high school, Kreuk was selected by the CBC network to play Laurel Yeung in the series Edgemont, which allowed her to star in Snow White, her first television movie.
This role was the one that opened the big opportunity for Kreuk, who auditioned before Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and in 2001 the Canadian was chosen to play Lana Lang as part of the regular cast of Smallville.
The story of Smallville focused on Lana Lang as Clark Kent’s romantic interest, something that lasted until the seventh season, with the departure of Kristin Kreuk from the regular cast in 2008. But the Canadian returned as a guest in a dozen more episodes.

Along with Smallville, Kreuk participated in other projects such as the Earthsea miniseries, as well as the Eurotrip and Dream Princess films.
Two years after leaving as part of the regular cast of Smallville, Kristin Kreuk made an appearance in the Chuck series, where she took the role of Hannah, and in 2012 the Vancouver native returned to a leading role on television with the role of Catherine Chandler in the Beauty and the Beast series.
While on the big screen, Kreuk was part of the movie Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li in 2009, which passed with more pain than glory in movie theaters around the world.
Kreuk keeps her personal life far from the media, but the Canadian actress is co-creator of the Girls By Design project, along with her friend Kendra Voth, where they support women with educational and creative issues. Kreuk is also a member of the American Red Cross.
