If you’re thinking of visiting Montreal, we’ve got a list of must-see places to make your travel experience memorable.
Viewpoint and Oratory
One of the most emblematic places in the city is the Kondiaronk Viewpoint located at the top of Mont Royal, popular for its panoramic views and for the selfies that are generated daily. The park on the “mountain” was designed by Frederick Law, the same landscape architect responsible for Central Park in New York, so the postcards it offers are spectacular.
Another must-see is the Oratoire Saint-Joseph, one of Montreal’s masterpieces and one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites on the planet, which houses bell towers and a huge dome that reaches 97 meters in height (the second highest after from the Basilica of San Pedro), in addition, temporary exhibitions are offered all year long, which are very worthwhile.
Montreal flavors
One of the typical Canadian foods are bagels, the favorite of the Montrealers is the one that is immersed in water with honey before cooking. To try an authentic one from the region, Schwartz’s is the ideal place, as are the many bakeries located on Fairmount and Saint-Viateur streets. But the dish that you should not miss is the poutine, prepared with French fries, gravy and cheese that you can enjoy at La Banquise, to finish with a locally produced drink like Rise Kombucha, at 1642 Cola.
It is also possible to go to public markets such as Jean-Talon, the largest in Montreal that offers a wide range of Quebec products, located in the center of Petite-Italie. A smaller but equally impressive option is the Atwater Market next to the picturesque Lachine Canal.
