The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow bigger and bigger, with more big-name actors and filmmakers joining the franchise. Finding himself at a point where anyone who isn’t part of the franchise is constantly being asked if or when he’s joining. The fans love the MCU. Most of the actors seem to like the idea of being part of this universe. But joining such a sprawling franchise can still make someone a little nervous. Just as it was in the case of the star of yeshe-Hulk: Lawyer Hulka, Tatiana Maslany.
Maslany will play Jennifer Walters, the titular superhero from Disney+’s She-Hulk: Lawyer She-Hulk, further expanding the MCU. Actress known for her starring role in the acclaimed Orphan Black spoke in an interview with the people of sfxmagazine about how she landed the role and revealed that she was initially nervous about joining the MCU.
“This audition was the first [una] real, and it was done via Zoom, so I don’t even know who was there. But I met up with Kevin [Feige] after I was elected and I was able to sit down. and chat with him.” Maslany said.
“It has always made me a little nervous to enter a world like this because I value character above all else, and I didn’t know how much it would exist in bigger projects”he continued. “But when I read the pilot, this was such an unexpected take on a superhero story. She is so human. There are really great explorations of the mundanity of life, in really great ways. And also, he’s talking about something I really like. You are interested in, what is it when suddenly you start to be seen as something, then you are seen as a thing and you become a commodity as that thing. What this show does, but in a fun and unexpected way, is deal with this idea.”
Maslany went on to explain some of the unique themes She-Hulk deals with and how excited she was to explore them with her character.
“How do you own the totality of what your body is when something has happened to you, or you are suddenly seen so differently, or there is an expectation that you behave in a certain way because of how you look? There are all these nuances that I find really compelling in the subtext of this kind of story.” said. “Also, what is the expectation of a female superhero versus a male superhero? It’s incredibly different.”
