The legendary Neil Gaiman, creator of The Sandman, has revealed that for the live action series they tried a version more similar to the comics.
One of the big bets Netflix will be The Sandmanthe adaptation of some great comics by Neil Gaman. The series will star Tom Sturridge and so far the trailers have been very well received by fans. But we almost see it with a different aspect, although they were clear that what works for graphic novels, may not work for the audiovisual medium.
In the comics of The Sandmanthe characters called The Endless They have white skin like alabaster. while the eyes of Dream / Morpheus they are black with two points of light in the center. But in the series Netflix the protagonists will look less supernatural, although they did tests to see if it was right for them to look more like the comic.
This has been revealed Neil Gaman: “We started with a snow-white Morpheus with all black eyes and massive black hair. Tom looked like someone in impressive disguise, not like someone who would be able to walk the waking world more or less unnoticed. So we pulled back until it worked. And yes, he is sometimes pale.”
What will the series be about?
official synopsis of The Sandman:
“There is another world that awaits us all when we close our eyes and sleep. A place called Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), shapes all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will forever change both the waking and dreaming worlds. In order to restore order, Dream must travel through different worlds and timelines to repair the mistakes he made during his vast existence. Revisiting old friends and enemies, and meeting new entities, both cosmic and human, along the way.”
The Sandman will be released on August 5 in Netflix.
