The beginning of the trailer for ‘Those in the last row’ already makes it clear to us that this it will not be another series of friends on the beach: The five protagonists of this story by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo shave their hair to zero so that no one knows which of them has cancer during a trip that will take place just before treatment. come on what We are not going to leave this series without tearing up a bit.
The letter C on the forehead
But ‘Those in the last row’ does not seem to be content with making us cry. This series, which premieres on September 23welcomes autumn by reminding us of a summer that few have had: boats, beach, piercings, heavenly places and varied loves. All this interspersed with a game of challenges and things that they never dared to do that looks as exciting as, why deny it, a priori a little forced as the engine of the plot.
Daniel Sánchez Arévalo continues to trust Netflix as the place to shoot his stories -the last one was the decent movie ‘Seventeen’-, and there are not a few of us who hope to recognize the author of ‘AzulOscuroCasiNegro’ or ‘Cousins’ again. We will see what comes out of this first foray into the world of series (or rather the miniseries: there will be six episodes).
The five protagonists are relatively little known faces. Perhaps the most striking is Mariona Terés, who rose to fame for standing up Paquita Salas, and next to her will be Itsaso Arana (‘You have to come see her’), María Rodríguez Soto (incredible in ‘The days to come’) , Godeliv Van Den Brandt (‘Red Sky’) and Mónica Miranda (regular in shorts by Dani de la Orden or Borja Crespo). It will be necessary to see if ‘The ones in the last row’ has the exact amount of tears, laughter and summer to captivate us: the mix must be so perfect in a subject as delicate as the one it deals with. if it comes off on either side it can be a disaster. We will know on the 23rd.
