After the good reception by the public —more in enthusiasm than at the box office, everything must be said— of James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ and its hilarious cathodic spin-off ‘The Peacemaker’, it was a matter of time before Marvel Studios bet for incorporating into its Cinematic Universe his own supergroup of antiheroes: the ‘Thunderbolts’.
A “team” not too “dream”
Well, after learning that the feature film centered on the creation of Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley would be in charge of closing Phase 5 of the MCU, the people of Disney, within the framework of D23, has presented to the gallery the assortment of characters that will make up the team…and that leaves a bit at half gas.
The seven protagonists of the film will be the Countess Valentine Julia Louis Dreyfus USAgent —Wyatt Russell— Red Guardian —David Harbour—, Yelena Belova -Florence Pugh- task master —Olga Kurylenko— Ghost —Hannah John-Kamen—and the Winter Soldier —Sebastian Stan—; a compendium extracted from the previous MCU productions ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’.
The truth is that, taking into account that characters like Venom, Bullseye, Norman Osborn, Speed Demon or Baron Zemo, and that Marvel Studios could have opted for a more powerful villain, this template knows little; although everything indicates a movement more than calculated to future expansions and replacements in potential sequelae.
Be that as it may, we’ll see what the ‘Thunderbolts’ movie has in store for us, will be directed by Jake Schreier —’A friend for Frank’, ‘Paper Towns’—, on July 26, 2024.
