With surprises like this I am beginning to consider continuing with Netflix a lot. The platform has hit the table and has presented an excellent and extensive trailer for ‘Pluto’. An advance to announce that they are in full production of an anime that adapts the manga of the same name naoki urasawainspired in turn by the ‘Astro Boy’ of osamu tezuka.
Specifically in history’The best robot on the face of the Earth‘ (1964), which the master behind ‘Monster’ and ’20th Century Boys’ expanded into a series for Big Comic Original magazine between 2003 and 2009 with Takashi Nagasaki as co-writer
Expanding the Astro Boy universe
Set in a neo-futuristic world where robots and humans live in complete harmony, Detective Gesicht finds himself investigating a series of murders of robots and humans… and things get complicated when all the evidence points to a robot being responsible for them.
The series, which has not revealed the number of episodes, will be produced by GENCO, with m2studio as an animation studio and the collaboration of Tezuka Productions, under the tutelage of Osamu’s son, Macoto Tezuka. In Urasawa’s words:
“I applaud the bravery of everyone who has risen to the challenge of making an anime based on Pluto. I am excited about the birth of this new series to win the hearts of the people. I hope now more than ever that Osamu Tezuka’s message reaches the world.”
The voice cast is made up of shinshu fuji like Gesicth, Yoko Hikasa like Atom and Minori Suzuki like Uran. With no concrete premiere date, the anime will land on Netflix sometime in 2023.
