Anime adaptations do not always arise directly from the manga, but many series and movies adapt light novels and novels to use. This is the case of ‘The Apothecary Diaries‘ (‘Kusuriya no Hitorigoto’), a romantic period drama which has been running since 2011 and will now have an anime series.

First came the original novel by Natsu Hyuga, later the light novels illustrated by Touko Shino that already have twelve volumes, and then a manga adaptation drawn by Itsuki Nano that has ten.
The next logical step was the anime, which TOHO Animation and OLM are already working on.the studio responsible for the entire ‘Pokémon’ franchise and more recently ‘Komi-san Can’t Communicate’ and ‘Summer Time Render’.
Norihiro Naganuma, the director of the first season of ‘The Ancient Magus’ Bride’ is in charge of the project and is also supervising the scripts. The anime also has Akinori Fudesaka as assistant director, Yukiko Nakatani as character designer Natsumi Takao as art director.
In addition to the first trailer, a poster focused on its protagonist has been revealed, and the truth is that these first advances of ‘The Apothecary Diaries’ They look pretty promising aesthetically. A fixed release date has not yet been confirmed, but the anime is expected to premiere sometime during 2023.
The plot of ‘The Apothecary Diaries‘ focuses on maomao, an apothecary in the city’s red light district who is sold to the imperial palace as a servant. Maomao has always been very curious and a bit eccentric, and when she hears rumors that the emperor’s children are seriously ill, she begins to use her experience as an apothecary to solve the mystery.
