TIC Tac. TIC Tac. The clock continues to mark the seconds ahead of the end of a 2022 cinematographic course that still has a few bullets left in the chamber to surprise us, and this friday november 18 try again with a good handful of film premieres with which to flee from the cold and the horrendous geopolitical climate that we are having to live with. Let’s go over them all.

The premieres of November 18, 2022

    ‘Armageddon Time’ (2022)

    • It is the new film by James Grey, the renowned filmmaker behind titles like ‘Ad Astra’ or ‘Z, the lost city’.
    • Its cast is made up of stars such as Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Anthony Hopkins or Jessica Chastain.
    • After its screening at the last edition of the Cannes Film Festival, it received a 7-minute ovation —thanks to the people who time these things for the information.
    • It is James Gray’s first film shot on digital, partly due to the problems caused by the COVID pandemic. Luckily, he and his cinematographer Darius Khondji made up for this by using 1970s lenses.

Criticism in Espinof: Cannes Festival 2022: the Dardennes break our hearts with the story of Tori and Lokita, James Gray remembers the Armageddon of his adolescence

    ‘Kings vs. Santa’ (2022)

    • It is directed by Paco Caballero, responsible for films such as ‘Perdiendo el este’, ‘Where two fit’ or some episodes of the series ‘El vecino’.
    • Its cast includes names such as Karra Elejalde, David Verdaguer, Eva Ugarte or Matias Janick.
    • It is a Christmas family comedy that may be coming too soon, but if it works at the box office it could be the last big surprise for Spanish cinema.
    • Its script is written by no less than eight hands by Carmen López-Areal, Benjamín Herranz, Lelé Morales and Eric Navarro.

    ‘The motherly’ (2022)

    • It is the new film by Pilar Palomero, who fell in love with half the world in 2020 with the celebrated ‘Las niñas’.
    • The film went through the last edition of the San Sebastian Festival, where it garnered fantastic reviews and the award for best leading role for Carla Quilez.
    • Along with Quilez, the cast is complete with the names of Ángela Cervantes, Jordan Dumes, Pepe Lorente and Olga Hueso, among others.

Criticism in Espinof: San Sebastian Festival 2022 | ‘La maternal’ is a success by Pilar Palomero betting everything on excessive drama that is not for all audiences

    ‘Cliff Walkers’ (2021)

    • It is the penultimate -this 2022 has already released two other films- show by Zhang Yimou; the Chinese filmmaker who has given us gems like ‘One Second’, ‘Shadow’, ‘Hero’ or ‘The House of Flying Daggers’.
    • It is a classic spy thriller set in the Chinese state of Manchuko during the 1930s, and offers two hours of betrayals, secret missions and action.
    • It went through the 2021 edition of the Sitges Festival.

    Plus…

‘The great Maurice’ (‘The Phantom of the Open’, 2021)

‘Honey, how much I hate you’ (‘The Hating Game’, 2021)

    ‘Monstrous’ (2022)

    ‘The perfect robber’ (‘Bandit’, 2022)

‘the great swiss adventure‘ (‘Suvorov: Velikoye puteshestviye‘, 2022)

    ‘1976’ (2022)

‘Mario Camus according to the cinema’ (2022)

    ‘Bosco’ (2020)
