Batman: Caped Crusader returns from limbo and after its cancellation had been announced, this animated series will come to a new platform, for two seasons
The Dark Knight’s legacy will continue. Batman: Caped Crusader is not only resurrected from cancellation, two seasons of this new animated series produced by Bruce Timm, JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves are also guaranteed.
In 2021, as SMASH timely reported, Warner Bros. announced production on Batman: Caped Crusader. This series would adopt the aesthetic that Batman: The Animated Series had.

However, in August 2022 Warner Bros. Discovery ordered the production of this animated series to stop, which would resume only if there was a platform interested in bringing the project to its ranks.
There’s finally a light at the end of the road, as The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Amazon has ordered two seasons of Caped Crusader.
Who will be responsible for Batman: Caped Crusader?
Joining the Batman: Caped Crusader team, Bruce Timm joins as creator and producer of the new animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, which will also be produced by JJ. Abrams and Matt Reeves, filmmaker in charge of The Batman.
Between 1992 and 1995, Bruce Timm and Paul Dini were the creators of Batman: The Animated Series, a proposal that has transcended the passage of time, which has made it a reference in the history of Batman in the media.
“Batman: The Animated Series was a masterpiece that shaped the perception of the character for an entire generation of fans… It is in that spirit that we are bringing together three master storytellers in JJ, Matt and Bruce, each with their own intuitive understanding and affection for the character, to create a new series that will continue in the same innovative legacy”, declared Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and who in 1992 produced the animated series of the hero of Gotham.
The first season of Batman: Caped Crusader will arrive between the second half of 2023 or sometime in 2024, through Amazon Prime Video.
